Courses:

About the course

The diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery course is intended to serve the health needs of the individuals and society at large, be it in prevention of disease, promotion of health or rehabilitation and other supportive nursing care with its sound education.

 On completion of the course the nurse is enabled to:

  • show core competancies in providing health care to individuals using the nursing process.

  • plan and carry out appropriate action to meet nursing needs.

  • sustain effective nursing care for the promotion of the best possible level of health in the patient.

  • assess effectiveness of nursing care.

  • apply knowledge from the biological and behaviourial sciences in the practice of nursing care.

  • function effectively with members of health teams and community services nationally or internationally, applying the knowledge of human relations and communication skills in his/her work.

  • to contribute to society as a responsible citizen and efficient nursing care giver.

  • to use his/her education as a base for further professional and educational advancement.

  • keep pace with the latest professional and technological development in medicare.

  • demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership whether in a hospital set up, community programmer or a health team.

 

Duration of the Programme:

The diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) shell be of 3 years duration.

 

Eligibility for Admission

The candidate should have passed 10+2 with 40% marks from any recognized Board. However Sciences preferable.
Registered ANM
10 +2 vocational ANM course from School recognized by INC.
Candidates are also eligible from state open School recognized by state government and National Institute of open school(NIOS) recognized by central Government.
10+2 Health care Science vocational stream from a recognized CBSE Board (state) and center.

Minimum age for admission will be 17 years(as on 31st December that year) the upper age limit is 35 year. For ANM/LHV there is no age bar.

 

Intake

 

The annual intake of student is 50. Out of which 45 seats are under the management quota and 5 are under the Govt. quota.
