India has long been known as a hub for nurses, and often looked upon to supply nurses to the World


There are many fields and profession which is expanding day by day. Nursing is one of them. Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individual, family and community, to attain, maintain or recover optimal health and quality of life. Nurses are clinically skilled with developed interpersonal skills and they are committed to advance the profession. We have committed nurses like Anjali Kulthe, Nursing officer from Cama Hospital who received National recognition for saving more than 20 pregnant woman when Pakistani terrorist in 2008 rushed to the hospital unit with loaded rafale. We have Annie Kanmani Joy the first professional nurse to take the road to Indian Administrative Services (IAS). These are the role models for nurses, making the profession proud. Nurses get prestigious Florence Nightingale award from honourable President of India on occasion of International Nurses Day every year.

Nurses provide care both dependently and independently, for example with physician and independently as independent nurse practitioner. There has been major reform in the nursing profession in India like age of teaching faculty has been increased to 70 yrs, INC has started independent nurse practitioner course, GNM is going to be upgraded to BSc(N) with modification in Basic BSc(N) curriculum, TNAI have taken over charge to recruit registered Nurses to work overseas. Nursing profession has various opportunity in the health care setting in expanded and extended role in Nursing Services and in Education.

Beyond the time-honoured reputation for compassion and dedication lies a highly specialized profession, which is constantly evolving to address the needs of society. From ensuring the most accurate diagnosis to the ongoing education of the public about critical health issues, nurses are indispensable in safeguarding public health.

So, what is nursing exactly? Its a dynamic field of trusted healthcare professionals spanning a huge range of education levels, specializations and skills. Not only that, nursing is a rewarding career that continues to grow and evolves as we learn how to best care for patients in the health care system,
